E.I.F.S

E.I.F.S. stands for Exterior Insulation and Finish System. It is a cladding system that consists
of a thin layer of reinforced stucco applied directly to the surface of an insulating plastic foam board.
Denali Masonry’s E.I.F.S. services include:

  • New E.I.F.S.
  • E.I.F.S. Repairs
  • E.I.F.S. Restoration

E.I.F.S. provides exterior walls with an insulated finished surface and waterproofing in an integrated composite material system. It is a lightweight synthetic wall cladding that includes foam plastic insulation and thin synthetic coatings.

E.I.F.S. are proprietary systems of a particular E.I.F.S. producer and consist of specific components. E.I.F.S. are not generic products made from common separate materials. To function properly, E.I.F.S. needs to be architecturally designed and installed as a system.

There are a number of versions of E.I.F.S. The most basic and common E.I.F.S. is called a barrier E.I.F.S. (also known as a traditional or conventional E.I.F.S.). Another type is called an E.I.F.S. with Drainage, which is a barrier E.I.F.S. to which a water drainage capability has been added.

A basic E.I.F.S. includes only the insulation and EIFS materials (coatings, adhesives, etc.). Other types of EIFS may also include plastic edge trim, water-resistive barriers, a drainage cavity, and other accessories.
